Stats: Transition Phase Day 1

So, transitioning from fasting to eating again. I need to just ease
my body back in and allow it a little time to get everything "back online"
as it were. This means juicing and just starting on easily digestible solids,
gradually introducing more and adding as I feel ready. Essentially taking
notice of what my body tells me. I plan to stay predominantly raw for
a while and also plan to incorporate more raw eating into my
general diet. Alright, so day 1;

Breakfast: watermelon/apple juice + watermelon pieces

Lunch: more watermelon/apple juice + 1 avocado (with touch of sea salt)

Dinner: fruit salad with watermelon/apple/rock melon/kiwi fruit/peaches/grapes

Unusual and challenging . . .

So, I'm not keeping up with the blog terribly well at present but I'm sure things will settle into a little more of a routine soon enough. Anyway, it is now Saturday night and we have arrived home from a day out celebrating Ji's 3rd birthday by taking a trip from Belgrave to Lakeside for the afternoon on Puffing Billy. Both kids (and mum and dad) had a great day but everyone is very tired and a little grumpy (the birthday boy in particular) and it is definitely time for bed.

But before I go I am finally getting to post a couple of videos I made either Wednesday or Thursday night, I forget which now but anyway, here they are (in which I reveal my little rituals I have been completing to mark the end of my fast) . . .

So, there you go, just a bit of fun to underline and ritualise some important ideas in my continued process of life change, healing and revitalisation. Giving yourself signs and reminders is a powerful psychological tool and one I plan to use more often in future.

And here's some shots from the birthday trip;

Final weight, WF Day 40

So, ended up a little over my personal prediction;
I thought I'd end up around 55k and I actually ended
up just over 57k so not too far away.

Now my weight is really just a minor statistic and
not terribly important in the overall reasons for and
benefits gained by my 40 day fast.

I have ended up feeling so much better in every way
compared to the way I felt when I began this cleansing
and fasting experience in January. It has been one
of the most worthwhile endeavours of my life and
I am very pleased to have been able to share it with
you too.

And now on to the next phase . . .

Water Fast Day 40!

So, it's now 9:58 on the 22nd of February, 2012 and my water fast is approximately 2 hours shy of being officially over. I have had an excellent day to cap off three days of hanging out with myself and just being there with no particular agenda or schedule or plan, apart from planning to not have any plan, and it has been great. I have relaxed and reflected and meditated and imagined and day dreamed and wandered and meandered and hung out and slept and stayed up and watched bad television and listened to inspiring music and discovered things and ignored phone calls and forgotten about work and skyped the kids and chatted to Jo and read Blake and made lists of great restaurants to visit and followed coffee smells and  thought about my granddad and swam and sat in the spa and had long, hot baths and read the room service menu and drank the water from the mini bar and watched the sunset and listened to the traffic and wanted to order the "big breakfast" and made house keeping wait for me and checked out the restaurant and sat at the bar and ordered a "water" and taken late night walks and watched "Deadman" again and gained new insights and tuned into my intuition and watched people and taken a fresh look at my town and made promises to myself and slept in and got up early and thought about my friends and felt my appreciation for my life and wished stupid people had somewhere else to go and and wondered what I would write in my blog and then thought about why I care and then decided it was time to watch "Black Books" and then wondered what Dan might choose as my first, next glass of red and then wondered what meal it might go with and then thought about how good the watermelon on Thursday is going to taste . . . mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm watermelonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

and, oh yes had such a FANTASTIC day today!!!!!!!!!

I thought about doing a video blog when I got home but I'm now just so tired I can't actually be bothered so this will have to suffice for my 40th day and you know, I had someone today tell me my future happiness depended on my ability to let go of my perfectionist tendencies so here I am starting now! My perfectionist is nagging me saying you can't NOT video blog on the FINAL DAY! It will feel "unbalanced" but, I am just not inspired right now and very tired so, this is me, saying; Thank you everyone for all your good vibes and well wishes I have been receiving all day, it has been most gratifying and I send you all my love and appreciation for your amazing support and positive energy that has sustained me this entire journey. I have done two of my little, "planned" events to mark the occasion, I am doing another tomorrow and will be planning for the last. Oooooooooooh, mysterious . . . . . . . promise to reveal it all tomorrow. Just hope now it's not a big let down, they are really merely little things I am doing for myself as ritual reminders of the deeper changes and continued evolution I am undertaking. Anyway, here are a couple more photos from the last day or two, I'm off to bed. Cia Cia.

Reflection, Meditation and Relaxation . . .

So here I am, Day 39! I'm writing this at about quarter past nine in the morning from my bed on the fourth floor of the Bayview on the Park Hotel. I decided to take these last couple of days of my fast to spend alone in quiet reflection and contemplation, meditation and relaxation. I was originally planning to go camping again but that was not possible so, instead, I opted for camping in comfort, and thus, find myself here on this overcast, Melbourne morning gazing out my window at the beautiful trees of Albert Park.

I managed to get a better nights sleep last night than I have achieved for quite a while and awoke quite refreshed at 5:30 a.m. I spent some quiet time listening to Miles Davis "'Round Midnight" and watching the commuters on Queens Road making their way to their office cubicles in the dark, being exceptionally grateful and appreciative of my good life that affords me the time to choose to do the things I wish for my family and the people that depend on me and myself. So many do not have such good fortune.

I then took advantage of the hotel facilities and had a morning swim and spar and am now back relaxing in my room, catching up on my blog and planning my day. Life is Good.

Here now, is a video I made last night, cheers to you all and good health!

Rest and Recreation Day

Gave myself a rest day. Didn't record stats, didn't worry about anything. Just hung out with the family all day. Playing with the kids, lying around in the backyard in the sun. Sleeping, resting etc.

Oh yes, and watching the family eat some wonderful looking and smelling food!

Past your bedtime Ji!

So, as promised, here is a video to give you an idea of how I am going at the pointy end of my water fast. That first post about my drinking seems not only an age ago but feels like a totally different person. I haven't possibly been able to share with you all the learnings, insights and growth I have achieved during this first stage of my revitalisation but it has been such a rewarding experience up until now, not in small part due to a lot of you. I do hope as I go along with this blog from the water fast to be able to share at least a little more about this life changing experience but for now, here is my latest video.

As you can see; I am doing well, feeling strong and confident of the final outcomes of this water fast. I do hope this, in a small way, alleviates some of the more extreme concerns, fears and anxieties some of you have had about my welfare (and in one bizarre case my mental health) . . . ; )
Anyway, here are Ji's photos he was requesting.

Cheers, see you soon.

FINALLY!

It's Saturday night and I haven't had a chance to post since Wednesday. I was planning to do a video post this evening but, to be honest, I'm in my PJs, sitting on the couch with Jo, the kids are in bed and I think I'll just write this and do a video tomorrow.

I will fill you in on the last couple of days (which have been very interesting, extremely busy and terribly exciting!) in my video tomorrow apart from this;

Our NEW WEBSITE for my business was launched last night! It's been a long, long time in the making and it is finally up! The reason we launched on a Friday night (usually bad night to go live with a website as mistakes/problems don't get fixed till Monday) was that I was a guest of the MMF and the ST Kilda Festival for a music industry panel for an evening of discussion and Q & A about the differences, pros and cons, between recording at home verses recording in a pro studio.

It was fun evening and it did give us incentive to get our new site up, a double positive outcome. So, without further ado, here is the link so go check out The Wick!

The Wick

Enjoy.

Congratulations Shaun!

This is not really related to my blog except that it's given me an extra boost this fine Thursday morning. A record I mixed late last year for a good mate and amazing young artist, Shaun Kirk, hit No.1 on the national blues radio charts! It's our first No.1 for The Wick and I couldn't be more excited for Shaun and very proud of our work on his record.

So, here's a clip of him playing the title track from the record "Thank you For Giving Me The Blues" we shot last year in The Wick and mixed again by yours truly. Enjoy!

 . . . and I'm off for a deep muscle massage . . . mmmmmmmmmm : )

Brilliant Day!

So, today was my first entire day spent back on deck in the studio, and it was a fabulous day all round. We spent the day tracking violins with Nigel Maclean, one of the finest players in the country, who made everything run so smoothly and easily! Such a life-affirming pleasure just experiencing such virtuosity.

Here's a video I made just befor the session:

and here's Nigel doing his thing . . .

Oh yeah!!!!

I'm very blessed to have opportunities to work with such individuals.

Brilliant Day!
